From helping set up / clean up at our weekly service to participating in special service projects, to taking an international trip serving our ministry partners, it is our desire to pursue a relationship with our world. We recognize this as not just our responsibility but also our joy; to be a blessing to the world we live in.
We often have both impromptu and scheduled opportunities to serve in this way. Many people in our Shelter community volunteer as a way to serve those around us. Please check our calendar for opportunities.
Service Opportunities: Local Partnerships

Young Life is a non-denominational, Christian organization committed to impacting kid's lives and preparing them for the future. For more than six decades, Young Life has been introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith, while providing strong, positive influences in their lives. We have several Young Life staff and volunteers in our Shelter community. We provide monthly financial support to two Young Life Staff people.

City Team Ministries is a local organization working hard to love the people in the hard part of San Francisco, Oakland and Hayward. Every other Friday, City Team holds their 'Night Strike' where volunteers take food, clothing and blankets into the tough parts of the tenderloin district of San Francisco. There are stations set up providing haircuts, foot washing, manicures and massage. Volunteers are asked to donate $7, their time and compassion for the evening.

Service Opportunities: Global Partners

Ministry Partners in Liberia. Since the 1980’s, social and political unrest has forced Liberians to live in refugee centers and displacement camps in neighboring countries. AHEAD International (Agency For Holistic Evangelism And Development) has shown the way to hope and a future for many of these refugee communities by communicating the good news of the Gospel as well as providing an education in Agriculture, Business Studies, Community Health Education, Journalism, and Theology. We at Shelter, are a state-side partner for AHEAD International and will continue to take trips to Liberia to serve the people in Africa.

Ministry Partners in Romania
Since 1995 Networks has been an integral ministry in the city of Arad, Romania. The needs in Romania are tremendous and it has been a privilege for us to support Networks. Among their many endeavors towards loving and reaching the people of Romania in the name of Jesus, Networks has been running an orphanage and a very successful work program for helping young men once they leave the orphanage. Networks has also invested in a great deal in a computer program for children. We at Shelter are grateful to have taken 2 mission trips to Romania to support the work in this community.

We are honored to support Compassion International as individuals and as a church community. Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Service Opportunities: Financial Support
We believe that beyond our tithe, God asks us to trust him with our finances and give offerings towards advancing His Kingdom. As a church body, we believe we are called to be a blessing to our world by giving generously, giving often and giving out of faith.
