Each Sunday we pray for Shelter's gatherings at 5:00-5:20pm upstairs (at the church). Please join us.
LIFE TRANSFORMATION GROUPS (LTGs)
FIRST SUNDAY SABBATH
In effort to create a rhythm for worship through prayer, fasting and community, the first Sunday of the month is a sacred day for us. We start with a Solo - a time for personal retreat - and practice an ancient orthodox form of prayer called Lectio Divina. We have a day of Fasting and break the fast together with the Acts 2 Shared Meal at 6pm at Shelter, where we will enter into a time of Worship. These are important Rhythms of Life for our church community. We are providing space for us to rest and be with God.
PART I, Solo 9:30am. We meet at Shelter and drive together to Briones Regional Park. We spend two hours alone listening, praying, seeking and just being with God. We will be back at Shelter by 1pm. Dress accordingly and bring a chair. We will provide Solo materials or you can print them out (attached). After each Solo, we have an optional discussion time.
A monthly Solo is a great way to set aside intentional time to rest and be with God. Our hope is as we learn to be with God, we will see our need for Jesus and cultivate our lives around the discipline of making space for Him.
If you want to have Solo on your own time, there are solo material below. We encourage you to get out of your normal environment and seek God where you will not be distracted. He is worth it.
PART II, Fasting. We see this as a way to empty ourselves to create space for Jesus to fill us. This is a spiritual discipline that takes practice. If you are new to fasting, try fasting from one meal and use that time instead to commune with God.
PART III, Feasting. We will gather as a community for our Monthly Acts 2 Shared Meal. Please bring Pasta, Salad, Bread or Dessert to share with our community. Meet at Shelter at our normal gathering time, 6pm.
PART IV, Worship. After our Acts 2 Meal, we will worship and celebrate life together.
We see that Jesus did these practices regularly so we want to do the same. We want to follow Jesus - the best way to live.
